The Housing Authority of the City of Goldsboro Scholar Program was established in 2017 to significantly increase the number of public housing students that are prepared to enter and succeed in postsecondary education. We’re excited to announce that this year we will be awarding scholarship support to qualified students living in HACG subsidized housing. These scholarships are currently available to graduating seniors that plan on pursuing their education at a trade school, community college or four-year university.
Students that meet the eligibility requirements are encouraged to apply. Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of academic record, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, statement of goals and aspirations, and unusual personal or family circumstances.
Scholarship award amount may vary and will be paid directly to the recipient's school for tuition, books, and fees.
The deadline for applications is April 1, 2020. (OPEN)
Eligibility (applicants must meet all of the criteria below):
Applicant must be a resident of the Housing Authority of the City of Goldsboro.
Applicant must be a high school graduate or equivalent with a record of volunteerism in the community.
Applicant must be enrolled at a college or university of their choice.
Applicants must maintain a minimum grade point average of 2.5.
Applicants must complete an essay about their career goals and how being awarded this scholarship will help you achieve them.
Applicant must include a letter of reference.
Applicant must include proof of acceptance and grade point average.
Scholarship selection process:
Selection of recipients will be made by HACG Staff & Partnering Organizations. HACG is excited to implement this type of support for youth residents seeking to further their education.

THE ANTHONY GOODSON SCHOLARSHIPS 2021 (not yet open)
The Anthony Goodson Scholarships are funded through the ECAHRO program for the purpose of supporting and fostering the educational pursuits of deserving residents of assisted housing being administered or managed by a Public Housing Authority. It is recognized that this endeavor directly supports the shared objective of enhancing the mobility and improvement of residents of assisted housing. The Scholarships are named in honor of Anthony Goodson, Jr., the Chief Executive Officer of the Housing Authority of the City of Goldsboro who has and continues to be a strong advocate for the implementation of scholarships in the membership areas.
